Flying High

So Enthused by my mornings activities, I skipped over to the Natural History Museum’s exhibition of Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Go if you can! What is it about seeing animals at one with their environment that helps put everything in perspective?
I find enfusing animal elements with characters gives them their own heartbeat, highlighting their perspective of the world they live in. There was lots of inspiration for Puck.
Two of my favourites were…

Not to mention the Falcons they had chilling outside. This is why I love London.

Oh, and there was this wee guy. He has the puppy dog eyes down to a fine art. I must practice harder.

If You Go Down To The Woods Today

“A forest bird never wants a cage”- Henrik Ibsen, A Master Builder
Bright Eyed And Bushy Tailed, or rather bleary eyed and greasy mained (Thanks to a certain Fairy Queens birthday doo) I made my way up the unrelenting hill to the beautiful Highgate Wood.
One of my new North London surprises, it was originally part of the ancient Forest of Middlesex.

My current RSC (Cockpit Theatre, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts third year season…Comme ci, comme ça) production is ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. One week into our rehearsals and we spent all morning in the wood. Foraging, Improvising, sound scaping, talking to dogs and climbing trees. Puck is my role and apparently after today covering myself in dirt is my goal.

Someone had a built us a fairy bower. So considerate.
  • Inner child going mental in a public place- check.
  • Inconspicuous excrement in my fingernails- check.
  • 20 new ways to hang myself from other bodies- check.
Imagine if you could go on location for every part you played. I think I should call Richard Branson, ask him if he needs an actress for a production of ‘The Tempest’’ on Necker Island. Number anyone?…

Dancing blindfolded on an open stage

“Dance like no one is watching, Love like you’ll never be hurt, Sing like no one is listening, Live like it’s heaven on earth.”- William Purkey
Did You Know there are 14 quintillion different combinations on a Rubix cube. This isn’t  the exact amount of times I’ve pondered exorcising my thoughts on here. But it is close.
I turned 21 recently (11th october-belated gifts most welcome) and decided to take control. Literally. I’m an actor in my last year of training and aware of the impending big bad world outside the drama school bubble. I’m ready to burst it.
Theatre is a reflection of us. That’s right, you and me. Period or Contemporary, Comedy or Tragedy, Ibsen or Shakespeare-Your reaction to it tells you something about yourself. In a world where we consume everything I want to have somewhere to digest what i’ve read, seen, watched and discovered. It affects all of us, whether we know it or not.
Forgive me for sounding uber intense. That can happen, I’m only a controlling, unpredictable, childish, borderline schizophrenic girl…forgive me. Hello blog world! It’s nice to meet you. I am Miranda. My thoughts are more disorganised than the coalition.
